A HUGE Comet Shout Out to one of our Kindergarten Families for sponsoring November's Backpack Buddies program!!!

Preschool

United Community is proud to offer developmentally-appropriate preschool services to our patrons.

We offer preschool for children ages three and four.

Our 3 hour a day preschool program consists of mixed aged students, ages 3 and 4. However, we offer an all day option, where your child would spend the other part of their day in our preschool plus room. This preschool plus room is led by our qualified preschool associates.

United outsources childcare. Enrolling your child in preschool does not guarantee a spot in the childcare. If you are interested in childcare, please contact YSS Kid's Club at kcunited@yss.org

Help for Common Parenting Concerns

The Backpack Connection Series (http://challengingbehavior.fmhi.usf.edu/do/resources/backpack.html) provides information for parents about how to help young children develop social-emotional skills and reduce challenging behaviors.

The Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (http://csefel.vanderbilt.edu/resources/family.html) is focused on promoting the social emotional development and school readiness of young children. Their website provides tools for families to help children develop social-emotional skills.

Community Resources for Families
(https://www.unitedcomets.org/files/community_resources_for_families_22916.pdf) United keeps this list of family resources and updates as new information comes out of a resource or resources change throughout the school year. We observe families in need of a specific resource and provide them the support they need through the classroom teacher and our guidance counselor. When families request a resource, we also provide that information and reference this list often. Our guidance counselor works closely with families that need support in contacting the resource and assists in other areas of support if needed.

Mission Statement: “Learning, Thriving, Belonging”

Motto: “Comets, it’s time to shine!”

At United Community, we follow the Responsive Classroom Core Belief:
In order to be successful in and out of school, students need to learn a set of social and emotional competencies—cooperation, assertiveness, responsibility, empathy, and self-control—and a set of academic competencies—academic mindset, perseverance, learning strategies, and academic behaviors.
